When you join Rohan, Helm's Deep, Gondor, The Fellowship and Eye of Sauron virtual challenges, you'll be asked if you want to choose story mode or long mode.

Story mode is a shorter distance, skipping parts of the full journey. It's a challenge you can complete on your own.

Long mode is the full distance travelled in the films. As it's a long journey, you might choose to create a fellowship to complete it, it also suits cyclists.

What will I miss out on by choosing story mode?

The postcard and stories content in both story mode and long mode are the same, so you won't miss out.

When you choose story mode, the blue solid line shows the section you'll cover. The dotted line are the sections you'll skip.

Can I change from one mode to another?

Yes. Any distances you've already posted will be included.
