The maps that are used for the Original Challenges in The Conqueror App are provided by Google Maps, and this allows us to use the Street View feature where available.
The Street View that Google provide is constantly being updated and in some cases removed / modified by Google, this can result in some routes that we have chosen not having the same level of Street View as originally intended. Also there are some challenges where we know Street View is not available or has very limited coverage.
Accessing Street View:
Select the challenge you would like to view.
Tap the "pegman" button at the bottom left of the map.
If your current location has Street View this will display in the bottom half of the screen. If the bottom half of the screen is blank you can use the pegman (who is now on the bottom right of the map to explore for Street View (see below).
Navigating on Street View:
Once you have a Street View displaying on the bottom half of your screen you can do the following thing:
Tap the 4 way arrow to make Street View full screen.
Swipe left/right or up/down to rotate your view of the surrounding area.
Tap on the screen to move forward and back along the trail (note: the Street View path might deviate away from the Conqueror Challenge path, and if you want to check if you are on the trail tapping the 4 way arrow to have a split screen, you will see the orange pegman on the map to indicate where your Street View location is)
Exploring the map with Pegman:
To explore the surrounding areas you can hold down on the orange pegman in the bottom right corner of the map and drag them around the map.
When you start dragging over the map, there will be a new layer of colour appears on the map if there is Street View available, this will be a Teal colored line or Teal colored circles.
The lines indicate areas where you can move along the path by tapping on the image in the direction you want to travel.
The circle indicates a 360 degree photo, so you are able to pan around but not move along a path.
When dragging the peg man, you will be able to release the drag to "drop" the pegman onto a point that has Street View.
Once the orange pegman has been dropped on the map, you can move them by either holding and dragging them again, or by holding and dragging from the (now empty) box on the bottom right of the map.
If you attempt to drop the pegman onto a location with no Street View, they will go back to their box on the bottom right of the map.
You do not need to limit yourself to the area of the challenge, you can zoom out and explore far and wide, however dropping pegman works best if you zoom back in.
Street View is not limited roads, there are walking and cycling trails, aquatic trails and even some underwater trails to explore.
